Billy Hinsche was one-third of the celebrity rock
trio Dino, Desi &
Billy that graced the covers of countless teen
magazines in the '60s. Of course, Dino was Dean Martin's son, and Desi was the
son of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. None of the members of Dino, Desi &
Billy had yet turned 15 years old when their songs were on the charts. "I'm a
Fool" peaked at #17 in 1965, and that same year, "Not The Lovin' Kind" hit #25.
DD&B recorded 4 albums for the Reprise label and Billy co-wrote the group's
hit "Lady Love" with the legendary Brian Wilson. The trio appeared on all the major
televisions shows of the era including the first color broadcast of The Ed
Sullivan Show (from the CBS Studios in Los Angeles), Shindig, Shivaree,
Hullabaloo, Where The Action Is and many more. Billy was also a part of the
Beach Boys family, literally and figuratively - his sister Annie was married to
Carl Wilson, and Billy toured and recorded with the Beach Boys throughout the
'70s, '80s and '90s. He also provided background vocals on recordings by Elton
John, Warren Zevon, Joan Jett, America and others. Billy is a graduate of UCLA's
film school and is a noted documentary film maker - his latest DVD project is
called "1974 - On The Road With The Beach Boys" - a riveting, candid look
"behind the scenes" touring with the iconic band during the summer of
1974.
