Charlie was the first artist from Philly to break out
nationally & internationally at the start of the Rock & Roll era. He was
the first hit artist on the Cameo-Parkway label, bankrolling the company and
allowing them to launch the careers of a dozen other successful acts. He was the
first solo American rock & roll star to bring the music to the British
concert stage. In reaching #1 on the charts, Charlie's first hit, "Butterfly,"
knocked Elvis out of the top slot. He also charted with "Fabulous" (#16) and
"Ninety Nine Ways" (#11). Paul McCartney, Van Morrison, Ray Davies & Graham
Nash are among his biggest musical admirers. George Harrison once called his guitar technique "brilliant"
(Billboard 3/9/96). He continues to be one of the great musical ambassadors for
the roots of Rock 'n' Roll -- performing all over the world! His new CD features
collaborations with Graham Nash, Peter Noone, Al Kooper and Keb Mo.
